The TEC1-12705 is a compact thermoelectric cooler (Peltier module) designed for reliable localized cooling and heating in compact electronic and thermal management applications. The module measures 40 × 40 mm and is specified for operation at 12 V with a nominal current of 5 A, offering a simple solid-state approach to transfer heat from one side of the device to the other when DC power is applied.

Constructed with a series of thermocouples sandwiched between ceramic plates, this Peltier device provides reversible operation: when powered in one polarity it absorbs heat on the cold face and dissipates it on the hot face, and when polarity is reversed the thermal direction inverts. Its compact footprint makes it suitable for small coolers, electronic component cooling, temperature-controlled experiments, CPU or sensor cooling prototypes, and other applications where precise localized temperature differences are required.

To achieve effective performance and reliable operation, pair the module with an appropriate heatsink or active cooling system on the hot side, use thermal interface material on both faces as needed, and observe correct polarity and voltage/current limits. Adequate heat dissipation and proper electrical control are essential to maintain expected temperature differentials and to prevent overheating of the module during continuous operation.
